Safeguarding the children that attend Plumtree School is of the utmost importance and the priority for all staff. Miss Laura Dennis has been a Designated Safeguarding Lead within school for ten years and is the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the whole school, including the Early Years, supported by Mrs Tess Slight as Deputy Designated Lead and Head Teacher Mr Phil Simpson.

The excellent pastoral care provided by the school ensures that the well-being and welfare of the children is a continuous focus. The induction of new staff and ongoing staff training ensures knowledge of potential safeguarding issues are kept current. Our Well-being Officer, Mrs Jen Billingham is able to provide practical and emotional support or advice to pupils and staff as part of the school’s pastoral care.

When a significant concern is raised the school follows the actions outlined in the Safeguarding policy and in line with the Local Safeguarding Partnership and Government guidelines.
